We build ultra-lightweight robot arms: joints driven by a patent-pending differential reducer, and carbon-fibre links that sense their own bending with light. Less mass in motion means more payload per kilogram of arm, less energy per move, and a machine that is safer to stand beside.
Technology
At the heart of our actuators is a patent-pending precision reducer — a compact, backlash-free transmission developed in-house and built to sit directly inside a robotic joint.
Patent pendingA transmission this direct deserves control to match. We are developing a compact servo drive around it: field-oriented control on a dual-core real-time platform, absolute position feedback, and an EtherCAT slave interface for machine integration.
Drive and reducer are engineered together — sensing, thermal design, and control tuned to one mechanism rather than assembled from generic parts.
Light arms flex. Instead of adding mass to fight it, we build carbon-fibre links with photonic bend sensing running through the structure — the link measures its own deflection optically, in real time.
Fed back to the controller, that measurement lets a lightweight arm hold end-point accuracy that its stiffness alone never could — and opens the door to structures that carry more than loads.
The components above exist for one machine: a robot arm where mass is attacked at every level — joints built directly into the structure, links that weigh little because they are allowed to flex, and control that corrects what the structure gives up.
Low moving mass changes what a robot is: more payload per kilogram of arm, less energy per motion, and inherently lower collision energy where people work alongside it.

Featherway Robotics AB is an engineering company in Uppsala, Sweden. It exists to take one mechanism — the differential reducer — from first principles to a manufactured actuator, to extend the same thinking along the arm with links that sense their own deflection, and to apply that engineering depth to client work along the way.
The company is founded and led by Niklas Salomonsson, CEO and inventor of the reducer, with a background in engineering physics and embedded motor-control systems.
